Jota

We’re proud to lead Jota’s Series A and to make Haun Ventures’ first investment in Brazil. Congratulations to Davi Holanda and the team!

Brazil is one of the most interesting fintech markets in the world right now, because of the convergence of infrastructure that makes this moment unique: 147 million WhatsApp users who treat it as their default operating system, Pix as a native payment rail with over 170 million active users, and an Open Finance framework that has seen payment initiation volumes grow 20x in two years. Jota was built natively on top of all of these structural foundations.

Jota started from a real observation: Brazilian entrepreneurs run their businesses on WhatsApp, with handwritten records and cash flows managed from memory. Davi and his team built a financial assistant that meets them exactly where they are, rather than asking them to change how they work.

The founding team has the right background to solve this problem. Davi previously led PagSeguro’s SMB payments business from early-stage to a NYSE IPO, then founded Bankly, a Banking-as-a-Service platform acquired by Banco BV. He’s a repeat founder with real category experience in this market, and has assembled a team of operators from PagBank, Square, Itaú, and Omie who reflect that same seriousness.

We’ve believed for a while that financial services will go conversational. Jota a clear expression of that thesis. As AI inference costs fall and capabilities grow, we expect that being built conversation-first from day one will turn into a structural advantage that gets harder to replicate over time. We’re excited to build this alongside them.
